Looking for a good place for breakfast near Oktogon? Cosy Café Budapest is just a few minutes’ walk away, at Szondi u. 11., between Oktogon and Nyugati Railway Station. We serve all-day breakfast and brunch, specialty coffee and vegan dishes every day from 8:00 to 15:00. Here is everything you need to know before you visit.
Why the Oktogon area is perfect for breakfast
Oktogon is one of Budapest’s busiest junctions, where Andrássy Avenue meets the Grand Boulevard (Teréz körút). It is served by metro line M1 and trams 4 and 6, and Nyugati Railway Station (metro M3) is close by. Whether you are working in the city, arriving by train or heading out for a day of sightseeing along Andrássy Avenue towards the Opera House, it is an ideal starting point.
Szondi Street itself is a quieter side street, so you can enjoy breakfast close to the action but in a relaxed, family-run atmosphere – inside or on our 12-seat terrace.
What’s on the breakfast menu
Our menu covers brunch classics as well as Hungarian breakfast favourites. A few highlights:
- Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale – poached eggs on toasted brioche with Black Forest ham or smoked salmon and creamy hollandaise sauce.
- Full English breakfast – fried eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, tomato and bread. There is a veggie version too.
- American pancakes – with fruit and a topping of your choice, with Nutella and Kinder Bueno, or with bacon and maple syrup.
- Avocado toast – on toasted ciabatta with homemade avocado cream and a poached egg.
- Hungarian breakfast – try bundáskenyér (Hungarian eggy bread with garlic sour cream) or Hungarian-style scrambled eggs with sausage.
- Sandwiches on baguette or croissant, and our signature Cosy Club Sandwich.
