Coffee and brunch pairing matters as much as the food itself: the right coffee brings out the character of a dish, the wrong one can drown it out. At Cosy Café Budapest, between Oktogon and Nyugati Railway Station, all our drinks are made with 100% Arabica, medium-roasted specialty coffee, and our baristas are happy to help you choose. In this guide we show you which coffee goes with which brunch dish, what to look for when matching flavours, and how to recreate the brunch mood at home.
Why does coffee and brunch pairing matter?
A good pairing is all about matching flavours, aromas and textures. The wrong coffee can overpower a dish, while the right one lifts it. Our baristas are always happy to suggest a coffee for your plate – whether that’s a flat white, a cappuccino or an Americano.

Coffee types and what to pair them with
| Coffee | What it’s like | Pairs well with | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat white | Espresso with thin, silky milk – a bold coffee flavour | Egg dishes: Eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, avocado toast, tofu scramble | 1,590 Ft |
| Cappuccino | Espresso with a thicker layer of foam | American pancakes, croissants, cakes | 1,290 Ft |
| Latte | Espresso with plenty of milk and a little foam – mellow | Bundáskenyér (Hungarian eggy bread), granola, light breakfasts | 1,290 Ft |
| Americano | Espresso topped up with hot water – clean and long | Full English breakfast, chia pudding, savoury dishes | 1,250 Ft |
| Espresso | Short and intense | Sweet cakes, chocolate cake | 890 Ft |
| Espresso tonic | Espresso with tonic – refreshing | Summer brunch, light dishes | 1,690 Ft |
| Matcha cappuccino | Matcha with milk, no coffee | Chia pudding, fruity dishes | 1,750 Ft |
| Chai latte / dirty chai | Spiced tea with milk; dirty chai adds a shot of espresso | American pancakes, French toast | 1,750 / 2,090 Ft |
Prices are in Hungarian forints and don’t include the 14% service charge. Any milk-based coffee can be made with oat milk, coconut milk (+290 Ft) or lactose-free milk. See the full drinks list on our menu.

- Light, vegan dishes + a clean drink: an Americano, matcha cappuccino or freshly squeezed orange juice with chia pudding or a smoothie.
Why a professional coffee machine matters
Great pairing needs consistent quality. At Cosy Café we use a professional coffee machine: stable temperature and precise pressure make sure every flat white and cappuccino tastes the same.
Tips for home baristas
- Use an espresso machine.
- Use a milk frother for the right texture.
- Always use freshly ground Arabica coffee.
- Clean and maintain your machine regularly.
Brunch you can see
We care about how things look, not just how they taste. Latte art and careful plating make brunch more of an experience – no wonder our guests often take a photo of their flat white and plate.

Both vegan and classic brunch fans will find their favourites with us, with a coffee to match:
- Vegan: tofu scramble, chia pudding, tofu sandwich, vegan cakes and smoothies – with an oat milk flat white or cappuccino. More in our vegan brunch guide.
- Classic: Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, American pancakes, Full English breakfast, and Hungarian favourites like bundáskenyér and Hungarian-style scrambled eggs – see our Hungarian breakfast guide.
