Looking for vegan brunch in Budapest? Vegan brunch is no longer just a trend here – it’s a lifestyle. More and more people are looking for cosy cafés and breakfast spots that serve fresh, tasty plant-based dishes without compromising on coffee. At Cosy Café Budapest, between Oktogon and Nyugati Railway Station at Szondi u. 11., vegan breakfast and brunch are served all day, every day from 8:00 to 15:00.

In this guide we walk you through our vegan dishes, share how to pair them with the right coffee, and give you practical tips for your visit. If you’d like to compare other places in the city centre too, read our guide to the best brunch spots in Budapest.

Why is vegan brunch booming in Budapest?

Demand for vegan breakfast and brunch keeps growing in the Hungarian capital. Health-conscious foodies, people with an eco-friendly lifestyle and curious brunch lovers are all looking for good plant-based options.

  • Fresh, plant-based ingredients on every plate.
  • Lighter, yet filling: a breakfast that keeps you going for a day of sightseeing.
  • Rich in variety: different flavours, colours and textures in one meal.
  • The perfect start: even better with a fresh smoothie or a specialty coffee.

Vegan dishes on the Cosy Café menu

We’ve added plant-based versions to our breakfast classics. These are the most popular:

  1. Vegan tofu scramble (3,990 Ft): our vegan take on scrambled eggs, made with smoked tofu, turmeric, onion, pepper and tomato, served with salad and bread.
  2. Chia pudding (2,150 Ft): creamy chia pudding with coconut milk, fresh fruit and jam.
  3. Tofu sandwich on baguette (2,890 Ft): hummus, lettuce, pepper, cucumber and smoked tofu. Also available on gluten-free baguette (+990 Ft).
  4. Vegan cakes (1,890 Ft): vegan forest fruit cheesecake and vegan chocolate raspberry cake.
  5. Smoothies (0.4 l, 2,390 Ft): green, forest fruit or tropical – made without milk or yoghurt, so all three are vegan.

Vegetarian favourites too: our veggie English breakfast with smoked tofu and fried eggs, and our avocado toasts with a poached egg. These contain eggs, so they’re not vegan – but our kitchen is flexible, so just ask our team if you’d like a dish adjusted to your diet. You’ll find all prices on our menu.

Please note: all our food is prepared in one shared kitchen. If you have an allergy or intolerance, please tell our team before ordering.

Coffee and vegan brunch: the perfect pairing

A great brunch needs a great cup of coffee. We use 100% Arabica, medium-roasted specialty coffee for our flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes, and you can have any of them with plant-based milk: oat milk or coconut milk (+290 Ft). Oat milk is our favourite.

Why baristas love oat milk

Oat milk has become one of the most popular plant-based milks, and for good reason. It’s naturally lactose-free, made from fibre-rich oats, and many versions are fortified with calcium and vitamins such as B12 and D, so it fits easily into a balanced diet.

Baristas love barista-style oat milk because it steams beautifully. Thanks to its texture it forms a silky, stable microfoam that’s perfect for cappuccinos and lattes, and its slightly sweet flavour complements the coffee without overpowering it.

How to pair your coffee and vegan brunch

  • Tofu scramble: a strong espresso or an oat milk flat white.
  • Chia pudding: a classic Americano or a refreshing jasmine green tea.
  • Vegan cake: an oat milk cappuccino or latte.
  • Not a coffee drinker? Try a smoothie or one of our homemade lemonades.

The Cosy Café atmosphere

We believe great food is only half the story. Our downtown café is warm, bright and friendly – the kind of place where you feel at home over a slow weekend brunch or a breakfast with friends.

  • Vintage-chic interior: relaxed, bright and cosy.
  • Friendly team: welcoming staff and experienced baristas.
  • Terrace: 12 seats outside, perfect for a sunny morning.
  • Dog-friendly: dogs are welcome inside and on the terrace.

  • Arrive together: most of our tables are for two, so larger groups may need to wait longer. At busy times, tables are available for 1 hour from when you order.
